Selfies started gaining popularity as an integral part of pop culture in late 2013, and firmly entrenched itself as part of the social vocabulary by March of 2014, according to Google Trends.
During that time, PIXO Group begun development on what is now our Selfie platform. The platform has evolved to incorporate the latest in mobile technology, with the latest releases including animated gifs.
The branded Selfie app, allows clients to interact with their fans in a direct, relevant and engaging way. The initial concept began with branded stickers inside of a self-contained app, that would provide robust analytics to measure engagements and reach. Over time, Selfie moved to incorporate frames, a live stream and dashboard, expanded social sharing capabilities and released interactive elements. Today, Selfie is used by Michigan State University, non-profits, the Detroit Pistons and others.
Building an app capable of supporting all of the existing social channels and sharing mechanisms, as well as adapting to new ones, takes a dedicated, innovative team. PIXO Group’s developers needed to aggregate user content, develop capabilities to gate content to ensure age-appropriateness for a diverse audience, and support multimedia. All of our apps are platform agnostic, so cross-platform functionality is essential.
Additionally, the analytics and features accessible to clients required a dedicated dashboard, that was both easy-to-use and full of valuable data.
PIXO Group created an invisible API that allows users to log in through their social channels. This required integrating all of the social APIs, as well as tapping into the device-dependent storage and sharable mechanisms. PIXO Group branched into storing other media besides photos, like gifs, in order to remain relevant in the marketplace. The robust backend, supported all of the multimedia, and the dashboard was created to keep clients aware of events occurring in their ecosystem.
PIXO Group built metrics to identify top influencers. Clients can also update their content easily, so their Selfie stream can reflect relevant, current campaigns, change seasonally and keep the experience fresh and interesting for users.
Selfie is a phenomenal platform that allows clients to share with and build their user base. User-generated content is a key aspect of all marketing efforts in today’s digital climate. Additionally, the statistics and analytics gathered provide insight for the more than four million impressions. Finally, Selfie was recognized with a District Gold win from the American Advertising Federation.
